KZ is an emerging choreographer currently studying choreography at the Harvey School in Katonah, NY. KZ feels drawn to contemporary movement with groovy texture & emotionality through motion. She seeks to facilitate a welcoming environment that allows all people to feel free to challenge, experiment, and express through her work.
Through music, KZ feels inspired to create. She is inspired by Tupac Shakur, Michael Jackson, Alex Mitchell, Akira Uchida, Paris Cav, Erica Sobol, Paris Goebel, Roderick George, & David Thomas.
Mehta has trained under many choreographers in the NYC area, specifically at Broadway Dance Center, where she has experienced a variety of techniques which have helped formulate her own style. She has also studied with Leighann Kowalsky, Megan Smith, Cynthia D’Angelo, Brooke Hull, Mattson Williams, Malcolm Ellis, Gracie Spina, David Thomas, Jaclyn Walsh, Emily Nies, Hayden J Frederick, Jamie Trial, Mickey Lonsdale and Melanie Gambino.
In 2022, she premiered her first work, & was the Assistant Choreographer for the Harvey School’s production of Beauty & the Beast. In 2023, she attended the NYSDEA Student Dance Summit, where she participated in a community dance-making workshop and trained under multiple choreographers. She also joined the cohort for the NYU Future Dancemakers program, and premiered her first professionally staged work at the Mod Arts Dance Collective “COLLECTIVE THREAD” festival at Riverside Theater in Harlem, NY. She is now premiering in the Spring 4 Spring festival in June with her piece titled, “There is Sanity in Madness”.
